Sunday Social!

Linking up this morning over at A Complete Waste of Makeup for Sunday Social. Enjoy :)

1. What is the name of your blog and how did you come up with it??

Before starting my own blog, I followed tons of blogs just because I found them to be inspiring and enjoyable to read. After awhile, I wanted to try blogging as well.  At that same time, I had decided to only buy second hand clothes for the Summer to save some money. I LOVE to shop, but I knew that I would still find joy in thrifting and would still be able to find some beautiful clothes. Second Hand Solace was born at that moment, although now the blog has expanded to a few new areas of interest.  I think finding joy in other's happiness is also important. In a sense, it is a kind of second hand joy and I think that is how blogging works. You celebrate with your favorite blog authors, and you cry with them...bloggers experience each other's ups and downs through a second hand kind of experience. So I guess my name is a two-fold answer.

2. What do you love the most about blogging?

I love "meeting" people from around the world with similar interests as mine that I would normally have never met.  Someday I'd love to attend a blogging conference and actually meet some of them.

I also love that blogging gives me an outlet to express myself. Whether that be through outfit/thrifting posts, recipe posts, bragging sharing how great my boyfriend is posts, whatever, blogging is a unique experience to share what you love, hate, are feeling. I love encouraging others and being encouraged by so many of the lovely blogs I follow.

3. What are you're two favorite posts you've written?

4. What is something you'd want to tell someone just starting out in the blogging world?

Funny thing is, I've spent some time during the past week helping my roommate and my mom start up their blogs, Academic Affair and RNspiration. I think when you first start blogging, you have this impression that you'll feel inspired to blog everyday, like many of the blogs you love and follow. Honestly, there are weeks when you feel inspired to post 3 times a day, and there are weeks where you can't find the words to post even once that week.  Don't stress out about posting and just enjoy the blogging experience...posts will come to you.

5. Biggest blogging learning experience that you've had?

I am in no means good with technology, so my biggest blogging learning experience has been learning how to make different pages for your blog. I'm still working on them and learning, but I feel like I had this HUGE technological breakthrough when I finally figured out how to add an About Me page (yup, I'm THAT bad at technology).

6. Give us 3 blogs we NEED to be following that you love.

  5. I loved reading about the reason behind your blog name! And you are so right about feeling overly inspired some days, and not inspired at all others. Blogging is definitely a crazy ride, that's for sure :)

PS: Hope you're not getting confused by the way I write, as you know I'm not a native English speaker :( (that's one of the big reasons I started to blog).
